Visit of Agnès Buzyn, French Minister of Solidarity and Health to India.

New Delhi, 8 February 2019

H.E. Mrs Agnès Buzyn, Minister of Solidarity and Health of France, was in New Delhi on 8th February 2019 to represent France at the preparatory meeting of the Sixth Replenishment of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

This ministerial meeting laid the groundwork for the Global Fund’s Sixth Replenishment Conference, which France will host in Lyon on 10th October 2019.

The Global Fund has worked in over 140 countries since 2002 and disbursed 38 billion dollars to combat these three pandemics. One of its founding members, France is the Fund’s second-largest donor.

Minister Buzyn held discussions with her Indian counterpart, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, on health cooperation between France and India, as well as their efforts for the Global Fund.

In the course of her Delhi visit, the French Minister also visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where she met its director, Prof Randeep Guleria. Thereafter, she visited the Naz Care Home for children living with HIV and exchanged views with Ms Anjali Gopalan, Founder-President of Naz Foundation.
