Official Visit of French Minister for Foreign Trade Ms. Anne-Marie Idrac from 26 to 29 October 2009
The French Minister for Foreign Trade, H.E. Ms Anne-Marie Idrac, was on a four-day visit to India, from 26th to 29th October 2009. She was accompanied by a high-level delegation, comprising parliamentarians and senior officials of the French government. The focus of the Minister’s visit was on the EPR - the latest generation of nuclear reactors, Doha Round, FTA between EU and India, emergence from the financial crisis, foreign trade, railway infrastructure and the food processing industry.
The Delhi leg of Ms Idrac’s visit extended from 26th to 27th October 2009. From Delhi the Minister moved to Bombay, followed by Hyderabad.
In the course of her stay in Delhi, Ms Anne-Marie Idrac held high-level meetings with several ministers of the Indian government and senior officials, including:
Shri Anand Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry
Shri Subodh Kant Sahay, Hon’ble Minister of Food Processing Industries
Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission
Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon’ble Minister of State with Independent Charge, Science and Technology and Hon’ble Minister of State in PMO, in charge of Nuclear Affairs.
Also on the agenda were business engagements like a roundtable conference on Indo-French cooperation in agriculture and food processing with delegates of the CII.
While in Bombay, Ms Annie-Marie Idrac met Mr S K Jain, MD, NPCIL, Dr D Subbarao, Governor, RBI, as also Mr Nadir Godrej, MD, Godrej Industries Ltd. In Hyderabad the French Minister met Mr A Rosaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
