Projects undertaken by the Indo French Cell for Water Science (IFCWS)
The Indo French Cell for Water Science (IFCWS), located on Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus in Bangalore, gathers scientists around water management and water availability issues in India since 2001.
The main challenge is to better understand the eco-agro-hydrosystems in order to raise awareness among the various stakeholders in water management of the many challenges, particularly those linked to climate change.
The research is based on a Critical Zone Observatory located in the western ghats, including part of the Bandipur Reserve (forest ecosystem) and the Berambadi agricultural zone.
It involves for example hydrological data acquisition, soils and plants studies or even interviews carried out with farmers and NGO.
