French Landing Helicopter Dock “Mistral” and Frigate “Georges Leygues” to visit Kochi

The French Embassy is pleased to inform you that the French landing helicopter dock “Mistral” will call at Kochi from 5th to 8th May, 2011, as part of its training of midshipmen not only in defence drills but also diplomacy and geostrategic issues.

The LHD Mistral, belonging to the state-of-the-art and innovative fleet of the French Navy, has replaced the decommissioned “Jeanne d’Arc”. The LHD Mistral bears close defence systems and is equipped to carry out a wide range of missions:

• amphibious and air support operations,
• crisis management,
• command and control,
• medical support.
