Mr Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Government of India, and H.E. Mr François Richier, Ambassador of France to India, inaugurated on 24th November 2014 a daylong Indo-French Rail Seminar on "High- and Semi-High Speed, Multimodal Stations – Infrastructure and Financing" in New Delhi, India.

Mr Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways, also participated in the seminar, along with Mr Arunendra Kumar, Chairman of the Railway Board, all members of the Railways Board, as well as CEOs and MDs of more than 10 French companies operating in India in the railways sector* .

Organised jointly by Indian Railways and the Embassy of France in India (Regional Economic Department), this seminar aimed to expand the scope of the long-standing Indo-French cooperation in the railways sector. It brought together recognised specialists in this sector from both countries to brainstorm and find the best solutions to develop high-speed and semi-high-speed train systems in India and the creation of multimodal stations integrating several modes of public transport. French expertise and technology, brought by the French companies operating in India, can play their role in this process.

SNCF (French Railways) suggests measures for Mumbai – Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor following its 2014 feasibility study.
