H.E. Mrs Brune Poirson, French Minister of State for Ecological and Inclusive Transition, today visited the 2nd Global RE-Invest Renewable Energy Investors’ Meet and Expo.
New Delhi, 3 October 2018
On this occasion, the Minister signed two cooperation agreements between the French Development Agency (AFD), the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), Bolloré-Blue-Solution and their Indian partner, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). These agreements will foster the development of renewable energy innovations in India, such as high-efficiency solar panels, power storage, e-mobility and smart grid management.
Mrs Poirson also visited the French stand at the RE-Invest Expo to highlight the participation of French companies and encourage them.
Major French companies are particularly present in the renewable energy sector in India, such as EDF, Engie, Schneider Electric, as well as SMEs and midcaps, such as Technique solaire, which is currently developing its second solar park in Maharashtra; ECM-SEMCO, which produces solar panels; and Navalt, which produces solar-powered boats.
- EDF has been awarded a 300-MW wind turbine concession, winning the biggest contract awarded to a French company in this sector
- Engie in association with the investment fund of Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations and the French Development Agency (AFD) recently announced their agreement on a 2GW investment in the wind sector in India in the coming years.
- Schneider Electric has strengthened its standing as a major player in the Indian market with its recent acquisition of L&T’s electrical and automation business for 1.7 bn euros
