Visit of the French Ambassador to Bhutan
Ambassador Ziegler travels to Thimphu to strengthen France’s bilateral cooperation with Bhutan.
Bhutan, 23 - 25 April 2018
The Ambassador of France to India, H.E. Mr Alexandre Ziegler, visited Bhutan on 23-25 April 2018 to hold meetings with members of the Royal Government of Bhutan and review cooperation between France and the Himalayan kingdom. This is his second trip to Thimphu.
Ambassador Ziegler was received by the Prime Minister, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, the Minister for Agriculture and Forest, Lyonpo Yeshi Dorji, and the Minister for Economic Affairs, Lyonpo Leki Dorji. He also met the French community settled in Bhutan as well as representatives of the Bhutanese business community, including the CEOs of Drukair and Heli Bhutan.
This trip gave a fillip to several cooperation projects between France and Bhutan: the opening of a centre for learning French by the end of the year; the forthcoming issuance of French visas in Thimphu; exchanges with the Royal University of Bhutan; and agricultural cooperation.
