Technique Solaire’s first in India, this project was commissioned on 31st March 2017. Generating a total power of 5.5 MWp, this solar power plant is spread over 25 acres of land in Maheshwari village, Bhagwanpur, Uttarakhand. JLTM Energy India Pvt Ltd., the Indian subsidiary of Technique Solaire, was awarded a state tender in October 2015.
This installation, which involved an investment of approximately 4M euros, is producing the equivalent of the local electricity consumption of 13,500 inhabitants. The company has developed a unique model that makes local farmers stakeholders in the project, providing them the added benefit of a yearly income from the plant. After many months devoted to securing the land and financing the project, work on the power plant was finished in less than three months.
On this occasion, Ambassador Ziegler said: “I congratulate Technique Solaire for successful and timely completion of this flagship project. It embodies the strength of Indo-French cooperation in the solar energy sector and the ability of French companies to deliver. With a cumulative capacity of around 650 MW installed across India, French companies are committed towards becoming one of the major actors of the solar revolution going on in India.”
France actively supports India’s programme for developing renewable energy, which is a key tool in the common combat against climate change. Several French companies are committed to contributing to the development of non-fossil fuel energies in India.
The commissioning of this solar power plant confirms the Group’s strategy and position as a leading French player successful in setting up projects in India. The Technique Solaire group initiated its international development strategy with the establishment of its subsidiary, JLTM Energy India Pvt Ltd., in 2014.
This first project in India demonstrates the ability of Technique Solaire and its team to implement solar projects in a complex and highly competitive international environment, from the development to the operational phases. For financing this project, Technique Solaire drew on the support of its historical financial partners, BPI France and Crédit Agricole.
With this first success, and the ambition of the Indian government to develop solar energy with a goal of 100 GW by 2022, Technique Solaire intends to develop more than 200 MWp of projects in India over the coming two to three years.
At the same time, the group is continuing to study its development strategy in one or two countries other than India.
