The Indo-French Seminar on “Women in Science”
The Indo-French seminar on “Women in Science” through CEFIPRA seminar will highlight the scientific contribution and achievements of women principal investigators in collaborative Indo-French research projects. The seminar will focus on two broad interdisciplinary fields of research: Health and life sciences & Physical and mathematical sciences. It will take place on 3rd-5th February 2015 at the Faculty Hall, Main Building, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India.
The seminar will include plenary sessions with eminent women researchers from both the countries, scientific presentations by women researchers from joint Indo-French research projects and a poster session involving young researchers. A panel discussion addressing various aspects related to women in science completes the programme.
This seminar will offer an opportunity to not only to address the role of women in science but also for young researchers, in particular young women, to learn more about Indo-French cooperation in science. It will give them the opportunity to discuss their work with successful scientists from both India and France. The deliverables of this seminar will be dissemination of success stories of Indo-French scientific cooperation, greater outreach of Indo-French programs, as well as recommendations towards increasing Indo-French scientific cooperation involving women. This seminar will bring together both men and women in science to address the challenges of women in science from different perspectives.
