Telephonic meeting between the President of the French Republic, Mr Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
Paris, 4 November 2017
The President of the French Republic, Mr Emmanuel Macron and the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, held a telephonic meeting today.
They noted the positive dynamism injected over the last few months by the International Solar Alliance, which aims to optimize the exploitation of the potential of solar energy, upgrade our energy systems, provide universal access to energy and thus accelerate economic development. This initiative completely forms part of the efforts led by France and India for reaching the goals fixed by the Paris Climate Agreement. The number of ratifications of the Framework Agreement of the International Solar Alliance henceforth enables us to envisage that it will effectively enter into force soon.
In this context, Prime Minister Modi suggested to President Macron to organize the summit establishing the International Solar Alliance in early 2018.
The President of the French Republic confirmed to the Prime Minister of India that he would visit India on this occasion. The State Visit would help give a fresh impetus to our strategic partnership with India in all areas.
