H.E. Mr Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France to India, leads a 160-member French delegation at the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2019.

On the occasion of the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2019 (23rd - 24th January 2019), the Ambassador of France to India, H.E. Mr Alexandre Ziegler, led over 160 French delegates and 25 companies. France was be one of the six partner countries at GIM 2019.
The French Pavilion was one of the main attractions of the event with more than 25 companies and institutions. Major French corporates and SMEs presented their latest ventures in the automotive, banking, hospitality, food, logistics, electronics, IT, transport and renewable energy sectors. The French Pavilion also hosted eight public institutions with projects in the academic, business, social development and cultural sectors.

The Ambassador of France to India was one of the special guests at the inaugural session of GIM 2019 on 23rd January. On the same day, he also inaugurated the French Pavilion and delivered the opening address of the French seminar from 4.00 to 5.30 pm. This seminar with speakers from major French subsidiaries were be divided in three panels: the attractiveness of France for Indian investors, Innovation, and Human Resource and Multicultural Management.
Speaking on this occasion, Ambassador of France to India, Mr Alexandre Ziegler, said: “Since many years now, over 170 French companies have chosen to invest in Tamil Nadu, especially attracted by the very qualified human resource of the state. These investments are long-term investments, and they combine innovation and social responsibility. They are also being renewed – as we see with Saint Gobain and Michelin – and diversified –from the automotive sector which continues to be very active (JV PSA CK Birla), top notch industrial services (JV GSE AVIGNA), the food processing industry (Lactalis) to renewable energy. Generally speaking, French investments in India are very significant: today, about 600 Indian subsidiaries of French companies generate more than 350,000 jobs.”
France is one of the major investors in India and Tamil Nadu. With over 600 companies like Capgemini, Michelin, Schneider, Accor or Renault, to name just a few, French companies employ +3,50,000 people in India, including +2,00,000 people in the IT industry. France is the 2nd biggest European investor in India and is in the Top 7 globally.
With over 170 subsidiaries, Tamil Nadu is one of the main destinations of French investments in India. Historically, TN was a place of choice for French investment in the textile and automotive industries. More recently, the state has attracted investments from France in a variety of sectors, including logistics, transports, pharmaceutical and healthcare, IT, banking, aeronautics or food and renewable energy.

Such food park will include wholesale market, Farmers areas, warehousing and processing units and will welcome fruits, vegetables, seafood, dairy & meat from the entire state.
This Food Park total investment is estimated at 20 billion Rupees (Two Thousand Crores) and shall provide significant direct and indirect employment for Tamil Nadu area.
