The French Island of Reunion

-  The French Island of Reunion is a French territory since the seventeenth century. India and Reunion share strong links, almost 20% of the population on the Island being of Indian origin (for further information on PIOs in France, see - in French). Reunion is only a 45-minute flight away from Mauritius. Recently, direct flights were introduced from Chennai (6h10 to capital Saint-Denis). Furthermore, Reunion set up a representation desk in Chennai in 2013. Preserved from mass tourism, the 2500-sq. km island of Reunion has a stunning array of unspoiled natural habitats, such as its primitive forests, lagoons and natural cirques, and its active volcano, the famous Piton de la Fournaise.
