Following the interest expressed by Mr. Kamal Nath, Minister for Urban Development and with cooperation from his Ministry, a seminar dedicated to Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in the urban infrastructure Sector was organized by the Embassy of France in India, in cooperation with FICCI, ADETEF and the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy.
The seminar titled “Urban Infrastructure – PPP for Better Public Services” was organized at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, 17 September 2012.
The aim of the conference was to present the French experience in PPPs. The emphasis was laid on French projects successfully implemented in the sectors of urban water management, waste management, urban mobility, street lighting and urban transport, in France or internationally.
Participants at this conference were representatives of various Indian States (Secretaries Finance and Urban Development) and high civil servants from the Ministry for Urban Development, the Ministry of Finance and the Planning Commission. Private companies from these sectors and banks (multilateral as well as private) were also represented.
