French Open Final at the French Embassy

Mr. François Richier, Ambassador of France to India, received over 200 people to watch the live telecast of the “Men’s Final” of the French Open, Roland Garros, at the main hall of the Embassy transformed, for an evening, in a clay tennis court. It was a wonderful event, thanks to unconditional support of BNP, the historical sponsor of the French Open since 1973, and Lacoste, from the French famous player name who won the Davis Cup six times in 1920’s.
Roland Garros was a French pioneering entrepreneur and sportsman who, after being graduated from HEC Business school in 1908, ran companies in automobile sector and reached several civil aviation records. He died two months before the end of the WW1 and his friend, Emile Lesieur, decided to name the French Open “Roland Garros” in memory of his friend, in 1928.
