Cultural and Cooperation Department/ Institut Français en Inde

The mission of the Cultural Section / Institut Français is the promotion of exchanges and partnerships between France and India for culture and education: higher education exchanges, cultural cooperation, promotion of the French language, exchanges pertaining to literature and cinema.
The following are the areas of its action:
Cultural cooperation
- Artistic exchanges: performing arts, visual arts, architecture, heritage, design, fashion, music
- Exchanges pertaining to books, writing, literature and publishing
- Audiovisual cooperation and support for the spread of cinema
- Support for the promotion of French thought in debates on ideas
Cooperation on language and education
- Implementation of programmes for learning French (teachers’ training, preparation of textbooks, actions for promoting the French language)
- Establishment of cooperation programmes between Indian and French schools, cooperation on teaching methods
- Coordination of actions for the certification of the French language (DELF, DALF and DELF junior)
- Promotion of the French language among young people in cultural programmes
University cooperation
- Establishment of cooperation between Indian and French higher education institutions
- Promotion of studies in France through the agency CampusFrance
- Administration of French government scholarships for studies in France undertaken by Indian students
Decentralised cooperation
- Establishment of contacts between French local authorities and Indian cities, regions and states for developing partnerships in various areas, from technical cooperation for development to restoration of heritage, urban planning, etc.
