PhD exchange - Raman Charpak Fellowship

The new Raman Charpak fellowship scheme, co-funded by the DST and the French Embassy in India and implemented by CEFIPRA, has been launched following the recent State visit of the President of France to India. The fellowship program is in honour of two Nobel Laureates in Physics, Prof C.V. Raman, 1930 Indian Nobel Laureate, and Prof Georges Charpak, 1992 French Nobel Laureate.

This programs aims to strengthen Indo-French scientific cooperation through exchange of Ph.D. students between Indian and French laboratories. The fellowship scheme works in both directions, France to India and India to France, to enable Ph.D. students to carry out part of their research work (3-6 months) in a different country and experience current research methods in France / India, while discovering another cultural context.
