Note from THE CONSUL GENERAL

Dear compatriots and my Dear Indian Friends,

Arriving in Pondicherry on Saturday, July 29, with my daughter Axelle, I officially took charge on Monday 31 and had the opportunity to meet some of you, as well as some of the highest Indian authorities of the Union Territory of Puducherry.

I will endeavour to continue these contacts in the coming weeks with all the representatives of the French community as well as Indian authorities and partners in this vast consular district, covering from the UT of Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Kerala and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

But wishing to greet each and every one of you just now, I am sending you this message.

Honoured and happy of the mission entrusted to me, I wish to assure you of my commitment and my readiness to serve the French Community and the development of Franco-Indian relations.

In this regard, I am particularly pleased to start my mandate when new instruments and programs such as the French Office in Chennai, Bonjour India, and Smart City in Pondicherry are fast taking shape I have no doubt that these projects will constitute new opportunities for strengthening our community and Franco-Indian partnerships.

I know that you can count on these developments on the team of the Consulate of France at Pondicherry, whose quality I have already observed; And wish to pay tribute to the work of my predecessor, Mr. Philippe Janvier-Kamiyama.

I also know and congratulate myself that the French presence in Pondicherry and beyond is based on institutions as remarkable as the French Institute of Pondicherry, the French School of the Far East, Lycée français de Pondichéry, the Alliance française de Pondichéry, to mention only the most important ones.

I will be happy to know more about the other Alliances and French schools in the constituency, as well as to meet the relays and associative partners that animate our Community, as well as representatives of French companies whose commercial successes and investments are key factors for the future of our Community and Franco-Indian exchanges in the constituency.

You would have understood it, I am, like all my collaborators, at your disposal.

Yours Sincerely,

Catherine Suard
