North Korea – Firing of two ballistic missiles
Statement of the Deputy Spokesperson of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development.
Paris, 3 August 2016
North Korea has fired two medium-range ballistic missiles, one of which went down near the Japanese coast. These launches represent a new threat to regional security and an unacceptable violation of the nonproliferation regime and UN Security Council resolutions.
France calls for the complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantling of North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic programs, which jeopardize peace and security.
We will continue to work closely with our partners and reiterate the need for the entire international community to fully implement UN Security Council resolutions, particularly resolution 2270 of March 2, 2016.
