Goût de France
Creating and showcasing gastronomy trails in France is an integral part of Atout France’s key strategy in a market like India where culinary habits are different. The formidable passion shown by Indian chefs who were part of the Gout de France operation, which unified more than 2000 chefs across 5 continents on 21st March to showcase exemplary French cuisine, was indeed well reflected.
A close collaboration with the French Embassy in India resulted in optimising initiatives around this event; especially the launch of an online contest that encouraged the end consumer to enjoy a French meal at one of the participating restaurants. A lucky winner will enjoy a trip for two to the South of France. This initiative was supported by Air France and Relais & Chateaux. Gout de France and the contest were also showcased on the popular food app – Zomato.
2 events centered around Gout de France celebrations were also organised: an exclusive dinner for a select gathering of 8 media invitees was organised at the City Palace Udaipur under the patronage of His Excellency, Maharana Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur. Organised in collaboration with Champagne Ardenne Tourism, Laurent Perrier, Wine Park and Cox & Kings, the evening was a perfect showcase of French cuisine prepared by Chef Eric Geoffroy of Reims who specially flew down for the occasion. The event was also the perfect platform for the launch of the specially created En Route France look-book dedicated to French gastronomy created by Cox & Kings and Atout France. This look-book was the result of a specially organised press trip that took place in October 2016 which included Shipra Khanna – Masterchef India Winner 2012 and showcased French gastronomy.
The same concept was recreated in Mumbai on 22nd March at the Sofitel BKC for a gathering of 80 influencers invited by Conde Nast Traveller. Partners for the event included Sofitel BKC, Cox and Kings and Wine Park.
The Consul General of France in Mumbai – Mr Yves Perrin also organised two soirees at the Residence showcasing French gastronomy around the Gout de France initative for a selection of media, food bloggers and travel trade professionals.
Rendez-vous en France 2017
France’s premier global annual trade showcase, Rendez-vous en France, took place in Rouen Normandy this year between 28th and 29th March. With a presence of nearly 1600 tourism professionals, this strategic workshop organised by Atout France, Air France and French regional partners, provides the perfect occasion to showcase France’s tourism offerings to travel trade representatives from 67 countries who had gathered in France for this occasion.
For the Indian delegation comprising of 30 travel professionals and 2 journalists, the moment was opportune to also discover France’s regions such as Normandy, Champagne, Picardy and Occitanie that had organised special familiarization tours for the Indian delegation before and after the event.
Rendez-vous en France is a veritable platform for developing and establishing commercial relationships between French sellers and global buyers and is a strategic contributor that aids the economic progress of participating companies and is an unparalleled showcase for buyers to better understand the French expertise in the domain of tourism.
Atout France in India is proud to announce the forthcoming release of its very first sales manual in India that compiles France’s array of touristic offerings. Titled “French Collection”, the sales manual will prove to be an important tool for travel professionals involved in the promotion of our destination as well as the potential traveller.
