New President of IFCCI
During the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (IFCCI) 35th Annual General Meeting and 151st Governing Council, Mr. Sunand Sharma, Country President, Alstom India & South Asia and Chairman, Alstom India Ltd., was elected for one year as President of the Chamber, succeeding Mr. Jacques Michel, Chief Executive and Country Manager, BNP Paribas. He will be supported in this role by 3 elected Vice-Presidents, Mr. Pankaj Baliga, Vice-President, Tata Consultancy Services, who was re-elected for a year, Mr. Patrick Rousseau, CEO, Veolia Water, who was also re-elected for a year, and Mr. Pierre Behnam, CEO, Pierre Fabre, who was newly elected as Vice-president of the Chamber, as well as by all the Governing Council members.
The Chief Guest speakers at the occasion were H.E. Mr. François Richier, Ambassador of France to India and Mr. Pierre-Antoine Gailly, President of the Union of French Chambers abroad (UCCIFE) and the Paris Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCIP) whereas Mr. Jean-Raphaël Peytregnet, Consul-General of France in Mumbai, represented our constituency.
Mr. Jacques Michel, who was President of the Chamber for two years succeeded in many of the objectives that were assigned to him, notably that of shifting the Mumbai offices to new and more modern premises, opening a new office in Chennai and creating an employment service with a subsidy from the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the support of the Consulate General of France in Mumbai.
As President, Mr. Sunand Sharma will head the leading bilateral business organization having more than 450 active members (both French and Indian companies) from across sectors. In his new role, Mr. Sunand Sharma will ensure the continued success of the organization towards the development and implementation of both innovative and established strategies for successful business outcomes between India and France.
