MMRCA deal - François Fillon in the French national Assembly
Paris, 31 January 2012
This is indeed excellent news for Dassault Aviation Group, for France, for the French industry. […]
We can share together the honour that India has bestowed on our country by choosing this aircraft. This is all the more a good news as the competition was extremely tough : we were facing the American aeronautical industry whose costs, as you all know, are lower than ours due not only to the dollar’s level but also their national production being considerably higher ; we were also in competition with the Russian aeronautical industry, the Swedish aeronautical industry, and, in the final round, with Eurofighter.
This is the first time that Dassault Aviation and France have succeeded in selling this aircraft abroad. This comes as a reward not only for the quality of the French aeronautical industry, the tenacity of the company and that of the French government, but also the personal commitment of the President of the French Republic who desired that India and France engage in a strategic partnership, which has resulted in what we are discussing today : not only the supply of fighter aircraft but also the construction of two EPR type nuclear reactors. This proclaims how promising the ties, the relations between France and this major emerging country are for the future.
Hon’ble Members of Parliament, this should be a moment of satisfaction for all French people. […]
We are in another world in which, everywhere, occasions to rejoice in France’s successes abound./.
