« La Fête de la Musique »
International Music Day - Saturday, June 21st and 22nd, presented by the Alliance Française de Bangalore.
The happiest international music festival is back! And this year, the festival has gone a step further with events across the city from morning till evening, some going on throughout the weekend. This year, it is organised by Alliance Française de Bangalore with the support of Octavium, World Music Conservatory, The Humming Tree and The Big Pitcher.
Since 1982, the Fête de la Musique is being celebrated every year in France in the month of June. The idea of bringing people together to make or to enjoy music found great response; and other countries, too, started to celebrate the world music day in a similar fashion. Amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform in the streets. Many free concerts are organized, making all genres of music accessible to the public.
For years now, the stage has been brought to life with different kind of musical performances, in every possible language and style with weekend long celebrations at the Alliance Française campus.
This edition of Fête de la Musique in Bangalore marks multiple venue collaborations besides Alliance Francaise de Bangalore. With music enthusiasts across the city wanting to participate in this celebration in one way or other, Bangalore will witness the true French spirit of the Fête. Performances at Octavium, World Music Conservatory, The Humming Tree and The Big Pitcher will add cheer to the festival which is steadily extending its horizons. Keeping in mind that “anybody and everybody” can make music on this day, Bangalore’s favorite musicians are participating in the festivities alongside numerous amateurs. This Fête offers the opportunity to express through music, encourage amateur musicians, and it serves as not only a platform to discover the various musical talents but also allows an exchange between musicians and music lovers. The people of Bangalore will be up for a surprising treat with impromptu concerts across the city, when you least expect it.
For the second year, a selection of the received international 2014 photos and posters will be displayed on stage during the set shifts of the French ministry of culture and communication concert, in Paris, between 8 and 10:30 pm, in front of a large audience (4 to 5 thousand people). The images will also be broadcasted on the official international website: http://fetedelamusique.culture.fr/e...
Entry is free. All music lovers are cordially invited!
