KRAFFF : A heady and aesthetic mix of puppet theatre and dance

A new collaboration between artistic director Johanny Bert and the Choreographer Yan Raballand : KRAFFF.

Inspired from the text “The puppet and its theatre” of the German author Heinrich von Kleist (1777-1811) ,this innovative project proposes a different rendition of this oeuvre through the medium of art and dance. The body here essentially becomes a tool and a conceptual object being explored by the dancers. This profound exploration is accompanied by the use of different materials and original music score by a string and percussion trio. Five artists take center stage enrolled in craft paper, long rolls of paper unfold, fold, and take the shape of a puppet. Dancers and the puppet then enter into an unusual tandem giving rise to an aesthetic yet philosophical interrogation : who between the human body or that of the puppet is more graceful ? Through this duality of physical presence and technique each form is confronted with its own traits and limitations (gravity, flexibility, rotation, torsion). La Compagnie du Théâtre Romette creates an unusual theatrical expression where the dancer, above all man is confronted by his own condition.
