Indo-French friendship and cultural exchange celebrated at St Mary’s High School in Tarwadi, Bombay
Tuesday, November 5, the Consul General of France in Bombay Ms Sonia Barbry, accompanied by Mr. Philippe Guillien, Attaché for Cooperation for French and Education at the Consulate General of France in Bombay, participated in the ceremony of handing over the certificates of the school exchange program for students at St Mary’s High School in Tarwadi, Bombay, and the Lycée Jean-Paul II in Saint Grégoire, Brittany.
Hosted in Bombay by the families of students of St Mary’s High School, the high school students of Lycée Jean-Paul II and their two accompanying teachers spent 15 days stay in India, to discover the country and its culture.
After having lighted the traditional lamp with the Principal of St. Mary’s High School Father Francis Swamy, Ms Sonia Barbry heard various testimonies of the students and their teachers as well as the Indian organizer of the programme Mr. Austine Vas.
In her speech, the Consul General of France in Bombay then recalled the strong cultural ties that unite the two countries and insisted on the importance for young people of opening themselves to other cultures and other languages at a young age.
After the distribution of the certificates to the students of both schools, the evening ended with a festive and musical dinner.
