India’s accession to the Wassenaar Arrangement
India - Arms Export Control - Accession to the Wassenaar Arrangement, Statement of the Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Paris, 7 December 2017
France welcomes India’s accession to the Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies.
This decision was adopted unanimously this week at a meeting in Vienna under the French presidency. We wish to emphasize on the spirit of cooperation that has prevailed during our discussions with our Indian partners as well as India’s efforts in achieving this result.
The Wassenaar Arrangement aims to ensure the export control for conventional weapons and dual-use goods and technologies. It now includes 42 states from five continents.
France, as co-rapporteur with Japan of the Indian candidacy, has worked in recent months alongside the Indian authorities in a spirit of full cooperation.
As president of the #Wassenaar Arrangement this year and co-rapporteur of India’s candidacy, warmly congratulates for joining the Arrangement. One more recognition, after MTCR, of the growing role India plays in today's world @MEAIndia @SushmaSwaraj @JY_LeDrian
