Inauguration of the Alliance Française in Bhopal

On 28th November 2016, the Alliance française de Bhopal in the presence of Mr. Yves Perrin, the Consul General of France in Bombay along with Dr. Bertrand de Hartingh, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs in the French Embassy in India inaugurated its new premises.

This important moment in the history of Alliance française de Bhopal was attended in large numbers by the members, the professors, students and other well wishers of Alliance. The Alliance française de Bhopal is the only institution present in the “Heart of India” that has been strengthening the relationship between France and India since last 33 years.
The inauguration was followed by an exhibition “Songs of the Forest” in the new gallery of Alliance française de Bhopal. The exhibition of Gond paintings, sculptures and books, one of the largest indigenous tribes of Madhya Pradesh, was very well appreciated by the viewers. The artists have been introduced to Alliance française by Mrs. Padmaja Srivastava, architect and life member at AF Bhopal. She is extensively involved in the promotion of Gond art internationally.
At the end of the evening, a cocktail dinner was also hosted by Cooperation and Cultural affairs department of the French Embassy in India for friends of the Alliance française. The evening witnessed friendly interactions and exchanges among the guests.
