Hervé Tullet’s tour in India

About the author:
Born in 1958 in Normandy, France, Hervé Tullet studied fine and decorative arts. He has worked as an Art Director in advertising and communications for over a decade. His first illustrations for the press in France and abroad came in 1990 (Elle, Le Monde, Libération, Reading, Kids Magazine, etc.), and his first children’s book was published in 1994. A prolific figure in the world of children’s literature, he is the recipient of many awards, such as the the Prize for Non-Fiction at the Bologna International Book Fair in 1998 for Faut Pas Confondre; the Pitchou Prize for the best work in children’s literature in 2009 for Le grand livre du hazard; the Sorcières Prize in 2011 for Un livre, published in 2010; and, in 2012, the Pépite Prize for digital creation at the Children’s Book Festival of Montreuil.

Moi, C’est Blop, published in 2005, marked the birth of the chameleon form that is so emblematic of his work, while Turlututu (2007) introduced the strange eye that guides children through a game of question and answers. Through these two works, Tullet translates his concept of drawing the reader into being actively involved in his work. His publications also include touch and feel books so that children may enjoy books from early childhood.

Hervé Tullet, author and illustrator, is a major figure in children’s literature. His most recent work, La cuisine au crayons, was published in 2011 by Phaïdon.
