French Essayist Cécile Guilbert and Indian author Madhu Jain to exchange views on the art of the essay, 11th February 2009
The French Information Resource Centre and Book Office of the French Embassy are pleased to invite you to a discussion on the theme ‘The Art of the Essay’ by celebrated French essayist and literary critic, Cécile Guilbert.
Guilbert wrapped up her two month India visit with a talk on her award winning book ‘Wahrol Spirit’ and a discussion on the above-mentioned theme with Indian writer, Madhu Jain.
Recipient of the prestigious Medicis Prize for her book ‘Wahrol Spirit’ in 2008, Guilbert is now attempting a novel on India. She read some excerpts from her award-winning book during the Delhi International Arts Festival in December.

Cécile Guilbert was born in Pau (France) in 1963. She studied Philosophy at the University of Sorbonne and English at Colombia University. She is a regular contributor to various French dailies.
Madhu Jain studied literature in France and in the United States. She has worked in several Indian and foreign publications. She published her first novel ‘The Kapoors, The first family of Indian Cinema’ in 2006. She is also an art curator.
