French Consul General opens a Conference on Photonics and Metamaterials at Mahindra University – Ecole Centrale

On Friday, April 21, Mr. Thierry Berthelot, Consul General of France, gave the opening speech at Mahindra University – Ecole Centrale for their Indo-French Conference on Photonics and Metamaterials.

On his maiden visit to this campus built on a collaborative academic effort between France, represented by engineering school network Ecoles Centrales and India, industry giant Mahindra Group, the Consul General expressed his appreciation of the long-standing academic work undertaken together. The objective of this university is to give the best of both engineering curriculum along with Indian industrial exposure, thus making it a unique institute.

Ecoles Centrales network is a group of high level institutions in France, India, China and Morocco. Ecole Centrale Paris, which is at the origin of involvement of Mahindra University in this network, is one of the oldest schools of engineering in France. It was founded in 1829 and is one among the most prestigious and selective “Grandes Écoles” which has been enjoying a rich entrepreneurial tradition since the industrial revolution era. Ecoles Centrales network is training top-level engineers and executives who continue to constitute a major part of the industry leadership in France.
