France - Guest of Honour at the National Conclave on Cold Chain
New Delhi, 31 May 2016
The Embassy of France, at the invitation of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Centre for Cold Chain Development (NCCD), participated in the inaugural session of the National Conclave on Cold Chain. An important report reviewing the status of the cold chain in India, entitled “Strengthening of farm-to-consumer cold-chain infrastructure”, was released during the event.
France is one of India’s preferred partners in this crucial sector, which involves numerous challenges: food security, food safety, development of agriculture and the food processing industry.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was thus signed in April 2013 between CEMAFROID (Centre for Cold Chain Expertise) in France and the NCCD in India. Its aim is to establish close cooperation between the two countries through knowledge sharing, development of technologies, capacity building and strengthening, particularly in terms of technical norms.
In application of this MoU, every year France hosts and trains several tens of Indian executives in charge of the deployment of the cold chain, from both the public and private sectors.
