France Guest Country at New Delhi World Book Fair 2013, French Pavilion, Hall 7 A, B, C, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, 4 February - 10 February 2013


France is the Guest Country at the 21st edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair at the invitation of the National Book Trust, which organises the Fair, being held from 4 February to 10 February 2013 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

In partnership with the Bureau International de l’Edition Française (B.I.E.F.), the Embassy of France in India and the Institut français en Inde are pleased to announce that close to 2000 French titles are available at the French pavilion. A host of literary events including book releases, workshops and encounters with acclaimed French authors, such as Tahar Ben Jelloun, Kénizé Mourad and Dominique Sigaud, are scheduled to be held at the venue during the course of these seven days.

In addition, Indo-French Professional Round-Table Meetings between professionals of the publishing industry in France and India are being held on 5 February 2013 at the Conference Hall (1st Floor, Hall 7), Pragati Maidan.

The official inauguration of the New Delhi World Book Fair was held in the presence of Dr Shashi Tharoor, Hon’ble Minister of State, Government of India, Dr Karan Singh, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Mr M.A. Sikandar, Director of the National Book Trust (N.B.T.). H.E. Mr François Richier, Ambassador of France to India, as well as Mr Alain Gründ, President of the B.I.E.F., Mr Jean-Guy Boin, Director of the B.I.E.F., and a delegation of French publishers.

The Embassy of France in India and the Institut Français en Inde are also taking this opportunity to showcase French culture through an exhibition entitled “France Heritage” and a series of film screenings, including Delicacy by David Foenkinos and Stéphane Foekinos, and The Princess of Montpensier by Bertrand Tavernier.
