First edition of French Market in Chennai

The first ever French Market was organized by the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) on 18th - 19th June 2016 at Phoenix Market City mall, Chennai.

It created a true French ambience by offering the experience of traditional French cuisine, creative gourmet food, fashion, art and interior decoration, as well as other French products and services in areas such as adventure sports, the French language, and tourism. All of this was presented in an accessible and lively atmosphere, which attracted Indian shoppers as well as the expatriate community in Chennai.

Bringing together 26 French firms and institutions, the Reunion Tourism Bureau and the Alliance Française de Chennai, the French Market saw a footfall of 60,000 in two days.

It was inaugurated by Mr. Jean-Marc Fenet, Minister-Counsellor and Head of the Regional Economic Department, Embassy of France in India. The special invitees for the inauguration included Thiru M.C. Sampath, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Steel Control, Mines and Minerals and Special Initiatives, Government of Tamil Nadu; Mr Philippe Janvier-Kamiyama, Consul General of France in Pondicherry; and Thiru C.V Sankar IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Ministry of Industries. The French delegates were welcomed by Mr. S N Eisenhower, President of the IFCCI-TN French Investors Committee and Director of Saint-Gobain India.
