FRANCE: Leading Tourist destination for Indians
The Consulate General of France in Kolkata hosted on 2nd March a reception with travel agencies to celebrate the good relations with them and to promote France as a tourist destination for the Indian travelers.
The Consul general Mr. Damien Syed spoke on how France was keen to welcome even more Indian visitors. He recalled the French government’s commitment to ensuring that tourist and business visas are issued within 48 hours (2 working days) for Indians visiting France, contributing to the increase of the number of visas issued annually to over 10 000 in Kolkata alone.
The evening was a platform for both the Consulate General and travel agents/tour operators to present their key messages and priorities, which found deep echo in the words of Mrs. Sheetal Munshaw, the head for Atout France – France Tourism Development Agency, based out of Mumbai and present in Kolkata for this event.
Mrs. Anne-Laure Payet, the representative of the French island La Réunion, based in Chennai, gave also a presentation on that occasion.
