FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 - Press release

05/06/2019 – Chennai – France is all set to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019, which will start on June, Friday 7th with the first match: France playing against South Korea in Paris!

The FWWC France 2019: it is 24 teams playing 52 matches. The competition will last one month, from June 7th to July 7th in 9 host cities across the country: Paris, Lyon, Rennes, Le Havre, Grenoble, Valenciennes, Reims, Montpellier and Nice.

The Consul generals of France, Germany, and Australia, along with representatives from the United States and Japan, countries playing in this tournament, gathered at the Alliance Francaise of Madras of June 5th to promote the competition.
It is a great opportunity to promote women in sport. USA is the current Champion of the 2015 edition hosted in Canada, which gathered 1.35 million spectators and 764 million viewers.

For FWWC France 2019, 1 million tickets are expected to be sold and the TV audience is expected to cross 1 billion, with two broadcasters in France (TF1 and Canal+) and more than 100 broadcasters worldwide. 800 journalists are already accredited and more than 2 500 media representatives will be present.

The key dates of the tournament include:
-  The opening match on June 7th at Parc des Princes in Paris
-  The semifinals on July 2nd and 3rd at Lyon stadium
-  The match for the 3rd place on July 6th at the stadium of Nice
-  The final on July 7th at Lyon stadium

The match for the 3rd place and the final will be broadcasted live at the Alliances Françaises of Madras, of Pondicherry and Trivandrum:
-  Match for the 3rd place on Saturday, July 6th at 20.30 (IST)
-  Final on Sunday, July 7th, at 20.30 (IST)
