Dr. Villoo MORAWALA PATELL gets French honor, August 24, 2009
France honors Dr. Villoo MORAWALA PATELL with Officer of the National Order of Merit
Dr. Villoo MORAWALA - PATELL, Founder, Chairperson & Managing Director of AVESTHAGEN Ltd, will be honoured with the distinction of “Officier dans l’Ordre national du Mérite” (Officer of the National Order of Merit) by the Ambassador of France in India, Mr. Jérôme BONNAFONT, in the name of the President of the French Republic.
The bestowal will be held at the eve of the Bangalore Bio 2008 Exhibition, Wednesday 23 April 2008 at 8 p.m. at The Grand Ashok Hotel in Bangalore in presence of Mr. Alain Cousin, French Member of Parliament and Chairman of UBIFRANCE, the French Agency for International business development.
Dr. PATELL, a doctorate in plant molecular biology from the University of Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France, founded AVESTHAGEN Ltd, India’s leading knowledge based Life Sciences Company. Under Dr. PATELL’s successful entrepreneurship, AVESTHAGEN Ltd has partnered with multiple top French companies like Bio Merieux, Limagrain and Danone in the fields of research in bioPharmaceuticals, bioNutrition, bioAgriculture and Science & Innovation, contributing to the growth of the biotech industry. Dr. PATELL is also a key member of the Task Force & Vision Group for Biotechnology, instituted by the State Government of Karnataka and a founding member of the Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE).

The “Ordre national du Mérite” was created by General de Gaulle in 1963 and intends to reward “distinguished merit”. Recognizing an outstanding contribution, the “Ordre national du Mérite” is one of the most important decorations awarded by the President of the French Republic.
