Convocation ceremony at the Pune University

On the occasion of the 115th Convocation of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, held on Friday 21st of June, Hon’ble Prof . Nitin R. Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor, welcomed Dr Bertrand de Hartingh, Counsellor for Education, Science and Culture at the French Embassy in India as Hon’ble Chief Guest of the Ceremony.

Proud to be ranked 109th in the Times Higher Education ranking of the Asian continent for 2019, Savitribai Phule Pune University continually evolves to ensure that students will become leaders and thinkers who can understand world complexities, solve problems and produce technological innovation. 126 students received their PhD Degree and, among them, 6 from the Department of Technology were awarded the Gold Medal of the University.

In his address, Dr de Hartingh, reminded the new doctors that, in spite of their beautiful achievement, they should remember that what they have learned is what mankind already knows and that what we need is what we do not know yet. He also insisted on the fact that India and France have an “all-weather” partnership and a lot to share: ideas, culture and technologies.
