BPC DIXMUDE and FLF ACONIT on “Mission Jeanne d’Arc 2015”

A French amphibious task group, “Mission Jeanne d’Arc 2015”, composed of amphibious assault ship BPC DIXMUDE and La Fayette-type frigate FLF ACONIT, were on call at Visakhapatnam Port from 16th to 22nd June 2015.

Deployed on mission from March to July 2015, the task group’s itinerary has brought it to the Indian Ocean, from where it will set sail to the South China Sea, and, thereafter, to the Sea of Japan.

Military operations and bilateral cooperation actions were conducted during the mission, in which 146 cadets are taking part through full integration in the services, alongside the crew. This long-term deployment involving multi-faceted operations will enable the trainee officers to better understand their future working environment.

Mr Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of France in India, and Mr Eric Lavertu, Consul General of France in Bangalore, also interacted with the senior Commanding Officers as well as the cadets.

On 21st and 22nd June, the Indian and French navy conducted joint naval exercises including participation in the International Yoga Day onboard French Naval ship Dixmude. The event was held under the supervision of a qualified yoga instructor, a member of the naval community.
