A reception at the Consulate with the travel agents
The Consulate General of France in Kolkata organized a reception on 7 February 2017 to celebrate the good relations with the travel agencies and to promote France as a destination before the beginning of the 2017 peak tourist season (mid-April to end July).
50 East Indian travel professionals participated in the event. They had the opportunity to discuss the assets of the different French regions and to enjoy some French food.
The Consul general of France in Kolkata, Mr. Damien Syed, recalled that France has been issuing Schengen visas for tourism within 48 hours (2 working days) for Indians visiting France, contributing to the increase of the number of visas issued.
Mr. Syed announced that a new information center should be opened this year in Kolkata on Park Street near Alliance française du Bengale. Called “Espace France”, this center will gather in a single place information about studies in France (local office of Campus France), French language and tourism in France. The local travel agencies were invited to take part in this project.
Mrs. Sheetal Munshaw, Director of Atout France - France Tourism Development Agency in India, presented the tourist potential of the French regions and the upcoming events and cooperation with the tourism professions, like the food celebration “Good France” on 21 March all over India (and the world) and an important workshop in Goa in October 2017.
