On the occasion of the 64th Republic Day of India, I have the pleasure of conveying, personally and on behalf of the French people, my warmest wishes for peace and prosperity to the people and the government of India.

Longstanding friends bound by historical ties, France and India gave a new scope their relationship with the launch of their strategic partnership as early as 1998. Successive French Heads of State and Indian Heads of Government have strengthened this relationship of trust through regular bilateral visits and meetings on the occasion of international summits.

During their very recent meetings in Paris with Shri Salman Khurshid, Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs, the President of the French Republic and the Minister for Foreign Affairs reaffirmed their attachment to the steadfast friendship between India and France.

President Hollande will be coming soon to India. This will be an occasion to celebrate the remarkable scale of the cooperation between our two countries and develop it to even higher levels across the board, including further defence, economic, scientific, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between France and India.
